So, what are you doing this weekend?
Any plans for the weekend?
I don’t take a break just because it’s the weekend. There is a pressure and negativity surrounding people who don’t “take it easy” on the weekends. I see every day as an opportunity. An opportunity to work towards my goals.
We hear all the time that we “work too much”, “we need to learn to have fun”, “don’t you know how to relax?”. If we stop and think about the people making these statements and asking these questions… do these people have the lives that we want? Are these people working to achieve the things we are? Most likely… no. We can’t short change ourselves and not use this time to be productive. The people who get things in life are the people who push themselves when everyone else is taking time off. Now, it is important for us to take a break when we need to. I wrote another article, It’s Okay to Blank-Out!, talking about listening to ourselves and taking a moment when we need to. We shouldn’t stop though, just because it’s the weekend and that is what we are “supposed” to do. To be successful and achieve our dreams we have to push ourselves, give up some luxuries for a while and focus on our end goal.
Take a moment right now to think about what it is you want out of life. What is your end goal? Now, what are you going to do to get there?
I don’t know what you’re up against, I don’t know what you’re facing. But here’s what I do know: You’ve got something special, you’ve got greatness in you, and I know it’s possible that you can live your dream. – Les Brown
