Everyone has moments where they feel just utterly… alone. It’s somewhat ironic, the more we’re connected, the more alone we feel. In a world where someone is always just at our fingertips… we still feel alone.
Can feeling alone be an opportunity?
Absolutely! Maybe feeling alone isn’t always a bad thing.
Perhaps we can find strength there. In those quiet moments. These moments when we’re alone we can truely feel, let ourselves go, let the facade we cling to go, be free of the preconceived ideas and opinions that other people hold us to.
In these moments we are free.
We should take full advantage to self refect. Ask ourselves what we can do to better ourselves, let go of what’s not serving us, or just take a moment to be proud of ourselves. Also, why do we feel alone? Are we really just waiting for someone else to come and fill a void, instead of taking action and control of our own happiness?
The other evening, I was completely alone. Out in the middle of nowhere, 30 miles from civilization, not another soul for miles. I thought… these are the moments I feel refreshed. The evening is calm, the air has a slight chill, but just enough to feel crisp and energizing. It’s so quiet. This is why I’m here… this is the reset and focus I needed. Just enjoying this moment. The beauty in this moment of being alive. Nothing else is here, nothing else to consume my thoughts. Just to be. Let it all in.
We don’t really allow ourselves many moments like this. Just to be alone in all its beauty and glory. We can discover so much strength, passion and beauty in being alone. It doesn’t always have to be a sad, depressing thing. To be alone is to have full control and freedom.
So when we find ourselves feeling alone… let’s take advantage of it. Let’s take a moment to listen to what it is we really need and want out of life. What is it that we need to feed our souls? Let’s just take a moment and… breathe.
