If it lacks passion, I don’t want it. I’ve settled for too many things that didn’t suit me. Now, everything needs to fit and it must have passion. – Sylvester McNutt III
This one quote pretty much sums up how I currently feel about my life.
We’ve all settled for things in life that didn’t really fit our lives. We settle for many different reasons. People sometimes influence our decisions, whether it’s them all out telling us what they believe we should do or us making a decision based on the perception of what everyone else is doing, wanting to be “normal”. Sometimes we settle because we really don’t know ourselves. We’re always growing and changing… it takes a while to get comfortable in our own skin sometimes. Other times we settle because we feel that we don’t deserve more, we can’t achieve more… there’s no way we can be better.
Well, whatever the reasons we’ve settled in the past. We don’t have to continue settling. It’s all a mindset.
I’ve settled for a lot of things that were absolutely no good for me. It stops now! I don’t have time for things or people even, who don’t hold any value. I’m done wasting my time and energy with things that don’t serve me, that won’t help me achieve my goals in life. There’s no pause button, no reset… life is moving forward regardless of if I’m moving with it. I’ve spent too much time, money, energy and emotions stuck with things and people I’ve settled for… not anymore! I am actively choosing to let go of the things and people who don’t serve me. I don’t have time to not be picky and selective… I don’t have the time to not be passionate about the things in my life. I am a person of value, I will settle for no less that what I’ve earned and deserve.
I started my life with a single absolute: that the world was mine to shape in the image of my highest values and never to be given up to a lesser standard, no matter how long or hard the struggle. -Dagny Taggart Atlas Shrugged
We don’t have the time to settle for things that don’t suit us. We need to start being more selective about the things we’re adding into our lives. Are we adding value to our lives or are we just collecting junk that will never be worth anything? There is no reason to settle for things that won’t add value to our lives. Once the decision has been made to stop settling, let’s move on and not look back!
Let’s live a life full of passion and value.
The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone. -Ayn Rand
